New first team manager Kevin Durrant was quick to impose his style on training last Thursday and was keen to gain points and not friends with his approach. An excellent session saw plenty of running but sufficient ball work to keep the players interested. More importantly, the manager laid down his marker for the season ahead. “I’m going to be here come rain or shine on a Thursday night so I expect the same from my players,” declared the demanding Durrant. “I don’t care how good or bad you are but if you cannot make training then do not expect to be involved at the weekend.” As an ex-professional with managerial experience at a higher level, Durrant has targeted an immediate return to the Senior Premier Division and expects to be involved in the title shake up. “My job here is to get Canning Town Football Club back into the top flight and we will do that by working hard together as a team,” continued the determined boss. “If anyone can’t make training then I expect to be informed.” With the league campaign set to start on Saturday 18th August there are three more training sessions and two more friendlies to impress the new gaffer. The first team entertain Epping this Saturday at the WHUITC pitch with a 3.30pm kick off allowing Kevin and his assistant Nick Clarke further opportunities to zero in on their opening starting line-up.
