Essex FA’s disciplinary committee has refuted allegations that they are targeting Canning Town players in order to finance their organisation. The allegations arose after a match referee at the weekend confirmed that they have been given yellow cards with cartain names of the east London team’s players printed on the cards. At present, County FA rules dictate that any player who is booked or sent off incurs a fine to cover their administrative costs. “Canning Town Football Club has a group of players that are always getting booked, so to make life easier for our referees we have decided to print yellow cards with certain names already embossed on them,” stated a defensive Essex FA spokesman, Mike Haution. “I guarantee that every time Danny Ives or Stefan Fry play they will get booked.” Town statistician and club Secretary, Terry Cordrey, was quick to confirm the FA’s findings. “There may be some truth in their comments,” declared the father-to-be. “Having reviewed our disciplinary records for the last five years, I can confirm that we do have serial offenders.” Although the allegations may prove unfounded, the Essex FA has confirmed that the spectre of administration does hang over them. “Whilst for many years Canning Town have ensured our financial well being, the impending departure of Luke Weller to Australia has left a huge hole in the Essex FA coffers,” declared a concerned Haution. “We are devastated that he was able to secure a visa and hope that Reiss Russell can fill this void.” Weller is scheduled to spend six months in the southern Hemisphere country, as he seeks to find his true self. On behalf of Canning Town we wish Australia the best of luck!
